Convectair inaugurates its centre for expertise and training focusing on energy conservation, a 3-million dollar investment

Located in Sainte-Thérèse, the new facility, featuring cutting-edge technology, will greatly contribute to the development of energy sobriety.

Montreal, June 21st, 2016 – On June 15th, Convectair, a manufacturer and distributor of high- performance electric heaters installed in Québec, announced the opening of its unique Centre for expertise and training, focusing on the optimization and development of energy conservation technologies.

Convectair’s Centre for expertise and training acts as a liaison between the housing and heating industries. Located at Convectair’s headquarters in Sainte Thérèse, Québec, the Centre became a reality following Muller Group’s private investment of 3 million dollars.

According to Convectair’s President and CEO, Bernard Pitre, the Centre was created to develop and promote technologies and the best innovative practices to fulfill our commitments on climate change, particularly those relating to the Paris agreement of 2015, which established a global action plan to limit worldwide temperature increases to below 2°C.

"Convectair’s Centre for expertise and training’s objective is to create a research and development hub for the democratization of energy conservation best practices, both within the industry and among consumers," says Mr. Pitre. "The Centre will not only contribute to reinventing the way in which Quebecers heat their homes, through introducing technologies that are optimized to maximize energy efficiency, but we also hope that it will help create greater awareness about the changes we need to make as a society.''

The only Centre of its kind

The Centre is equipped with state-of-the-art testing and training areas that take into account the technical, climatic and cultural needs unique to Québec, such as:

•    The Vortex, a fluid mechanics chamber, which allows you to view, in real time, the movement of heat in a restricted area, in order to compare the effectiveness of heating appliances;

•    The KLIMAT-37.5oC, a bi-climatic chamber equipped with a sophisticated refrigeration system that enables you to simulate, up to – 37.5°C, the extreme temperatures of Northern Québec. This chamber enables standardized testing to scientifically establish efficiency measures for Québec’s climatic context;

•    A multi-purpose laboratory for testing equipment and prototypes.

Training at the core of our concerns

Through partnerships with teachers at Dawson College and Collège Lionel-Groulx, the Centre will provide unique training and certification opportunities to current and future industry professionals, including architects, engineers and electricians. As early as Summer of 2016, over 500 building and construction specialists will receive training on how to best install energy efficient heating appliances, and on the overall importance of energy efficient facilities. Starting in September of 2016, the Centre will provide specialized training to engineers and architects, to enable them to meet their continuing education requirements.

The Centre’s design incorporates Muller Group’s best practices, as Convectair’s parent company, whose headquarters are in Paris, France. Muller Group has already established five centres of excellence on energy efficiency in France, which will be working in symbiosis and real time, through interactive communication systems, with the facilities in Sainte-Thérèse.

A close collaboration between Québec and France

Ms. Christine St-Pierre, Québec Minister of International Relations and La Francophonie, and Minister responsible for the Laurentians region, congratulated Convectair and Muller Group for investing in research on climate change in Québec.
"Thanks to Convectair’s investment in creating this innovative research Centre, the Laurentians region of Québec will become a centre of excellence in the fight against climate change," states Ms. St-Pierre. "In addition, by adopting Muller Group’s best practices, which have long promoted energy sobriety, Convectair’s Centre for expertise and training also demonstrates the benefits of a successful collaboration between Québec and France."
Convectair’s Centre for expertise and training was officially inaugurated at a ceremony held on Wednesday, June 15th, 2016, with over 100 guests, including several dignitaries.

At Convectair, the future is promising!

Electric Heat: The cleanest form of heating for your home!

Discover the “Five Shades of Green” that offer the Electric heat systems.

1. Electric heat solutions are 100% energy efficient—all of the energy taken in by the heater is converted into heat.

2. Electric heat systems use electricity to operate—there is no need for natural gas or fossil fuels. With the electrical system shifting to support carbon-free and alternative energy sources (solar, wind, hydro), Canadians now have more choices than ever to reduce their carbon footprint.

3. Energy Savings - Electric heat systems use zone heating, which means you only heat the space you need when it is being used. Zone heating can produce energy savings of more than 20% compared to heating both occupied and unoccupied areas of your house.

4. Clean, Safe & Carbon-free. The solutions produce zero combustion products in the home so they are completely safe—this means, no carbon monoxide, odours, fumes, smoke, exhaust or noise.

5. Flexible & Reliable. The products can be easily configured with programmable and non-programmable electronic thermostats, allowing you to control the temperature in each room for every hour of every day. The electric heat systems also have robust design and the heating elements that typically have a lifespan of over 25 years.

There has never been a better time to make the switch to "greener" heating solution!

November : Convectair wins a Boomerang Award for its online sales site

November 30, 2015

Convectair is proud to announce that we just won a Boomerang Prize in the site or transactional application category – SME category on November 26.  Convectair is the first player in the electrical industry to win a prize at the prestigious competition in digital creations.

Following a desire to explore new markets and provide multiple purchasing options to its customers, Convectair launched on June 15 its transactional module on its new website, which was inaugurated on April 1, 2015.

Among the first transactional sites in the Canadian electrical industry, this site built with a goal of flexibility, convenience and ease of navigation & control, allows buyers to order a heating appliance online, to have it delivered quickly and automatically receive a list of installers closest to them. It is by combining the traditional with the new technologies that we believe we can offer our customers several purchasing options to meet their needs.

Customers can also create an account in which relevant information such as invoices, shipping status and power calculations (tool for calculating the power of device required) can be recorded and viewed at any time.

"This e-commerce platform is part of a wider program of Convectair to propel hitself, with its wholesalers and other trading partners, in modern practices; and align ourself on the unavoidable trends that shape our world.” said Bernard Pitre, President - CEO of Convectair.

The annually organized Boomerang Competition by the Editions Infopresse, brings together all the creations of the interactive communications industry, new technologies and digital industry in the broad sense in Quebec.

The agency responsible for the realization of the web site is Akufen.

November : Convectair won the 2015 EFC Award for its e-commerce website

The Prize

At the Electro-Federation Canada (EFC) “Future Forum”, held on November 4th at the Pearson Convention Center, twelve organizations were presented with EFC’s Annual Marketing Awards. This is the second year for this awards program and recognizes EFC member organizations demonstrating marketing excellence and innovation within the Canadian electrical manufacturing and distribution industry. Convectair won an award in the « Click and Order » category.

The website

On June 15th, Convectair launched the e-commerce portion of its new website, previously inaugurated on April 1st, 2015. Born out of a desire to explore new markets, increase sales and offer flexibility to our customers, Convectair built a B2C multichannel system. While supporting our traditional market and business partners, it is complemented with modern practices, to build a synergistic system and innovative platform.

Among the first in the industry, this website built with flexibility and convenience in mind, enables prospective buyers to purchase a heater online, have it quickly delivered, and automatically receive a list of the installers closest to them. Clients can also create an account in which relevant information such as invoices, shipping status and wattage calculations can be stored and consulted at any time.

Throughout the creation of this e-commerce platform, great focus was placed on design and ease of purchasing procedure navigation, in order to make the whole process as smooth and pleasant as possible for our clientele, and provide a great customer experience. Through sales results and positive feedback from customers, we affirm that we are moving in the right direction—towards a newer and stronger traditional market.

This e-commerce platform is part of Convectair’s larger initiative to propel itself, along with its wholesalers and other business partners, into modern-day practices; and align itself with the inevitable trends currently shaping our world, which we believe will strengthen our traditional market. We thank EFC, its members and the judges for their support and recognition in this fantastic adventure.” - Bernard Pitre, Chief Executive Officer
